/ Gwalior / Attractions / Jai Vilas Palace
A
19th century palace, it boasts of what are supposedly
the world’s heaviest chandeliers. This palace,
remnant the last rulers of Gwalior - the indias,
is patterned on the lines of an Italian Palazzo.
Although the current maharaja still lives in a
portion of the palace, a large part of it is now
a museum. It was designed by LI. Col. Sir Michael
Filose and was completed within 3 years to await
the visit of the Prince of Wales. A large part
of the palace is a museum filled with family memorabilia.
This museum is open from 10:30 am—5 p.m. (Closed
on Monday).
