With a wide range of climatic conditions from the torrid to the arctic, India has rich and varied vegetation. There are 45,000 species of plants and shrubs, which comprise seven percent of the world's flora. With 81,000 species, India has 6.5 per cent of the world's fauna. There are currently 80 national parks and 441 wildlife sanctuaries.
