Suzhou

The City

Located in the southeast Yangtze River Delta, its urban area covers 119 square km and has an urban population of 680,000. This is a famous ancient city of classical Chinese gardens with a history of more than 2,500 years.

Attractions

Famous tourist scenic spots include Lion Grove, Humble Administrator's Garden, Lingering Garden, Surging Wave Pavilion, Garden of the Master of Nets, West Garden, Tiger Hill, Hanshan Temple and others.

Shopping

Suzhou produces exquisite Suzhou embroidery, one of the four famous embroideries in China, sandalwood fans, Song Dynasty brocade a type of weaving done by tapestry method using fine silk and gold thread, mini carving and other handicrafts.

Cuisine

Suzhou dishes are mainly fresh water aquatic products, good in color, fragrant and tasty. Famous local and special products include Suzhou-style preserved candies, Suzhou-type pastry and Biluochun tea.
