Nanjing
The City
It is the capital of Jiangsu Province and is located
at the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Its urban
area covers 867.21 square km and its population is
128 million. Eight dynasties established their capital
here and it is one of the seven ancient capital cities
in China. From Nanjing, tourists can go to Beijing,
Shanghai, Tianjin, Jinan and other places by train
and to Huangshan Mountain, Hangzhou, Suzhou and other
places by coach.
Attractions
Major
scenic spots include the Mausoleum of Sun Yat-Sen,
Qinhuai River Scenic spots, Confocius Temple, the
Ming Tomb, Xuanwu Lake Rain-of-Flower Terrace and
Qixia Hill and other. The Observary on Purple, Gold
Hill, the largest on China, and the Nanjing Yangtze
River Bridge, the longest on the Yangtze River, are
all here.
Shopping
Local
and special products include pressed salted duck,
Rain-of-Flower the tea, pretty pebbles and replica
wood carving, etc. Nanjing's traditional Chinese painting
and caligraphy are long famous.
