Xi'an
The
City
The
capital of Shaanxi Province and use to be called Chang'an.
Its urban area covers 961 square km and the urban
population is 3.25 million. Eleven dynasties established
their capitals here in the past. It flourished in
the Han (205 BC-220) and Tang (618-907) dynasties,
with a magnificent imperial palace.
Attractions
The
famous ancient Silk Road starts from here and extends
to the west. Xi'an has many tourist scenic spots such
as the famous Qin Dynasty Terra-cotta Warrior and
Horse Figures, The Shaanxi Museum of History, Big
Wild Goose Pagoda, Little Wild Goose Pagoda, Xi'an
Forest of Steles, Drum Tower, Huaqing Hot Spring,
Old City Wall, Banpo Village Ruins, the Lantian Ape-Man
Ruins and Huashan Mountain, etc.
Shopping
Xian
handicrafts are replicas of the Qin terra-cotta figure,
tri-color grazed pottery of the Tang Dynasty, mini
carvings and folk handicrafts.
