The
City
Beijing
is the capital of the People's Republic of China and
the political, economic, cultural and scientific center
of China. It covers an area of 16,808 square km and
has a population of 11 million. Its 3,000 years is
kept alive by 2,660 temples and 24 ancient cultural
ruins and key cultural relic units.
Attractions / The Imperial Palace
Otherwise
known as the Forbidden City Palace Museum, was built
in 1406-1412. It was the Imperial palace in the Ming
and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) for 24 emperors. It
has 10,000 rooms containing over a million rare cultural
artifacts.

/ The Temple of Heaven
This
is where emperors held ceremonies for worshipping
heaven, and is the largest altar and temple complex
still existing in China.

/ The Summer Palace
This was the summer palace of the emperors in Quing
Dynasty, Covering an area of 290 hectares, three-quarters
of it are lakes. It is the largest well preserved
ancient garden in China

/ The Great Wall
The
symbol of China's ancient civilization with a history
of more than 2,000 years. It starts from the Shanhaiguan
Pass in the east ends at Jiayuguan Pass in the west,
winding 12,700 li. The Great Wall at Badaling, 75
km north of Beijing has been listed in the Album of
World Cultural and National Heritages.
Attractions / The Ming Tombs
Situated
40 km northwest of Beijing and built during 15th century,
they are the imperial tombs where 13 emperors are
buried, of which the Dingling Tomb underground palace
has been excavated and opened tourists.

Beijing has numerous large modern department stores
as well so special arts and crafts shops for burial
purchase local and special products as well as arts
and crafts.
